College Fashion Trends Spring 2013

The process of applying for college, getting accepted and preparing to move forward toward a bright future is often stressful. With so many concerns, like finding out how long is a twin xl bed, it is often easy to overlook fashion until the last minute, but planning ahead will result in many fashionable outfits that are perfect for the whole school year.

Plan for Comfort in the Classroom

College fashion inevitably starts with considering what to wear to class. The classroom requires comfortable clothes that provide a glimpse into your personality. You do not want to spend that hour in a lecture hall feeling uncomfortable because the plastic or wooden seat is sticking to your legs.

The best clothing for the classroom environment should focus on comfortable pants or a skirt that is long enough to sit comfortably for an extended period of time. If you decide to wear a short skirt or pair of shorts, pair it with fun tights that will keep your legs comfortable in the classroom.

Avoid heels and opt for flats in the classroom, especially if you need to walk up stairs or dash across the campus between classes. During the winter months or when the weather is a little chilly, change out your flats for a pair of boots. It will give you a little variety to your wardrobe.

Keep It Simple For Time With Friends

When you are planning a night out with friends or a weekend party with the entire dorm, keep your clothing styles simple and elegant. You do not want to look overdressed when you are planning an evening with friends, but you also want to put your best foot forward and show that you know what you are doing.

A pair of skinny jeans and a fun shirt is always a great idea for a night out with friends. Footwear should focus on something cute, such as a pair of simple black high heeled shoes or a pair of strappy sandals. Keep your jewelry and accessories to style fashionable, but inexpensive pieces. It is not necessary to wear expensive jewelry if you are planning a night with your friends.

The final touch to any outfit is always the purse. For time with your friends, make your purse interesting. A brightly colored clutch or a purse with a fun design is perfect if you are wearing clothes without patterns. If you choose a shirt with fun patterns, then keep your purse simple to give a little mismatch effect.

Date Night Outfits

Dressing up for a date is always exciting, especially in college. College is a time to explore your style and experiment with looks that you feel are interesting. While you want to dress up for a date, you should always consider your plans to ensure the clothes are appropriate for the occasion. The best outfits are simple unless you are planning to attend a semi-formal or formal event.

A great date night classic is the little black dress. A black cocktail dress or fun black strappy dress are ideal for dates because it can easily dress up or down based on your shoes. It is also great when you want to pair it with different accessories.

If you are not sure about the little black dress, then opt for another dress in a cut that you like. A dress with a single color is always appropriate because it is easy to match and it provides flexibility when it comes to accessories. A short cocktail-style dress is always great for dates because it provides a touch of style without looking over-dressed for more casual occasions.

For a dinner out with your beau or a classy event, wear a pair of high heels and real jewelry. If the date is planned for a movie and casual night out, then dress down a little with a pair of flats.

Warm Weather Styles

Whether you are attending college in a warm climate or you are going to summer classes, having a few warm weather outfits is always a great way to complete a wardrobe. Whether you prefer wearing shorts or you enjoy sundresses, it is a great time to explore different looks and styles.

Shorts are a great way to enjoy summer clothing styles because it provides the opportunity to show off great legs and feel comfortable in the warmer weather. Pair your shorts with a cute tank-top or short-sleeve shirt that is topped with a simple cardigan for a fun layered look. Wear heels if you want to dress up a little or wear flats for a casual look.

If you want to wear a skirt or a dress, then opt for comfortable and airy styles made with cotton. A simple cotton sundress is easy to change into any style you enjoy. If you wear a colorful sundress, then you can add a belt to accentuate your waste and a pair of small hoop earrings to draw attention to your neck and ears. For a slightly casual look, wear a pair of flats with the dress. When you want to dress it up a little, add a bracelet and heels.

Going off to college does not mean you need to give up your favorite styles. Instead, it is an opportunity to explore the looks that you want to try and get a feel for the clothes that suit your personality and preferences. For more tips and trends subscribe to our blog to get the latest posts.

So You're Gonna Be A College Athlete: How to Be a Champion On The Field & In The Classroom

Summer is halfway over. Soon, you're going to be starting college for real and playing a college sport for which a coach actually recruited you. Let's assume the sport is baseball. Let's further assume that you haven't been recruited to play at the University of Miami, Stanford, the University of Virginia or the winner of this year's College World Series . You're an above-average player and, according to the slots available and probabilities, you're probably in a NCAA Division III program. (Even if you're in a fairly big time Division I program, you might want to finish reading this article. A significant number of you guys get tired of being bench jockeys and transfer to D III's for playing time and the ability to be a stud player in a small pond.) Status Check - What the NCAA Calls You The NCAA refers to you as a " student athlete " in all its many publications, forms, notifications and rulebooks. The term is never ...

Adjustable Split King Beds: 2 Twin Extra-Long Size Beds Combined

On the surface, the answer to "What is a split king mattress?" may seem quite simple -- but there are several different types of split king beds to choose from. No matter what your budget or your particular circumstances, there is a split king that will suit you just perfectly. Why Are Split Kings Made?   A split king is made as a solution for comfortable sleeping for a couple. The bed is divided into two sections so that each person has their own customized side of the bed. This would allow for one person to have a firm mattress while the other person has a soft one, or for one person to have an electric blanket while the other one can sleep blissfully in the chilly night air that they prefer. Sometimes a split king is made for people with medical issues so that the person needing specific medical bedding -- like a bed that sits up and reclines automatically for example -- can have it on their own side but not on the side of the person who is not in need...

Dorm Room Essentials Checklist

Figuring out just what to bring to college might be the single most stressful thing that any college student goes through. How do you pack an entire 18 years of your life into one room, or better yet.....half of one room. We've put together this checklist to try and relieve some of the stress, enjoy.         Bedroom Alarm Clock/Cell Phone: Always make sure you have a tool to wake you up in the morning for those dreaded 8AM classes. We recommend keeping it out of reaching distance to avoid shutting it off in your sleep. Calendar/Bulletin Board: One of the most difficult things in college is staying organized. Use these to keep track of homework, tests or big events. Clothing/Hangers: Well this one might seem pretty obvious. Try not to bring your whole closet, most likely the closet you'll be sharing is much smaller than the one you have at home. Computer: If you have the money, a laptop can be the best investment you can make in college. It ...
