I have and have slept on a twin extra long trundle bed for over 30 years and love it. The mattress is just now starting to really show signs of wear and I'm hesitant to replace it as it is stuffed with horse hair - talk about a comfortable mattress! Any suggests as to where I could go to talk to someone about repairing it? If that's not feasible, the best alternative to replace it with? The trundle's cot is fine, so I'm not looking to replace the entire bed.

No matter what your budget or your particular circumstances, there is a split king that will suit you just perfectly. Why Are Split Kings Made?   A split king is made as a solution for comfortable sleeping for a couple. The bed is divided into two sections so that each person has their own customized side of the bed. This would allow for one person to have a firm mattress while the other person has a soft one, or for one person to have an electric blanket while the other one can sleep blissfully in the chilly night air that they prefer. Sometimes a split king is made for people with medical issues so that the person needing specific medical bedding -- like a bed that sits up and reclines automatically for example -- can have it on their own side but not on the side of the person who is not in need
